How to create the most optimal study routine for you?
How to create the most optimal study routine for you?
Hi guys, welcome back to this week’s blog where I will be talking about how to create the most optimal study routine. For this post, I will be breaking it down into two different sections 1. mistakes that I made 2. Don’t just blindly follow. As promised I will start the blog with my own personal experience of me attempting to find the optimal study routine for me.
During my June Holiday, as I was scoring just passes for my mid-years, I was heading toward getting disowned by my parents so I decided to, like you know, go on Youtube and try to see how others study. Firstly, I came upon this Youtuber called Anas Nuur Ali, who is a medical school senior, who studied from 6 pm in the evening all the way to 6 am in the morning and slept from 6 am to 2 pm and got the stuff out the way from 2 pm to 6 pm. At first, I kinda trusted him because he is a medical school student which means he is someone who knows how to study and the fact that I have 2 brothers whose job is to disturb me, I assumed that this is something that I could try and I failed in just one day. I couldn't stay awake throughout the night without 4 to 5 cups of coffee even though I am more of a night person(I prefer to get done with most of my stuff at night time)

Next, I came upon another medical school Youtuber called Kharma Medic, and damn, that man is insane, his medical school life is so inspiring. His study method, especially when he studied for this exam called USMLE, he studies for like 4h with small 5 to 10 mins breaks here and there and then has a long break of 2h where he usually cooks and eats lunch/dinner. Even though this was insanely productive where you can get 8 hours of work done, my brain was only able to stay focused for like 2 hours, and beyond that, my mind would just give up on me.

Recently, I came across many people who do Livestream of themselves studying, and wow their rooms are always so aesthetic Among them, I discovered James Scholz who is widely known for his 12-hour study live streams. He is a programmer in the US and his life is pretty much waking up and studying from 4 am to 4 pm with 10 min breaks every 1h. I tried this insane study routine for 1 day and gave up because it was just too mentally grueling.

It was only after a few weeks that I realized that there is a reason why there are so many study methods, study routines, and lifestyles. This is because everyone is sharing how they study, formula, or equation that only suits their upbringing, lifestyle, motivation, and goal. It cannot be just followed by everyone blindly, which I did and learned from my mistake. These videos are out there to motivate us and pick up points that could potentially benefit us. But there are some pointers to take note of to come up with the best study routine that is curated for you personally.
Experience
It takes a lot of trial and error to see how you work the best because everyone is unique and something that works for me does not necessarily benefit you
Have a to-do list instead of a fixed study time
One thing I learned is instead of coming up with a study routine is most important coming up with a to-do list because working with a few tasks in the head is better than just working for like 2 to 3 hrs with no aim
Age
Thanks to my friend, Sean, for pointing out that age plays a huge factor in the way we work. All the people I mentioned above in my blog are nearly 20 to 28 years old, nearly 5 to 7 years older than me. They need to work for long hours and it is something that their body can take because of their age but if you are a teenager like me having a good 4h to 5h of studying is more important than having fun times with your friends and family :)
Thank you for reading my blog. Hopefully, you learned something or at least learned something from me which is that:- on the internet, there are endless opportunities and content. It is for you to filter the necessary stuff and obtain useful information from the internet.
Cheers.
